As a future expansion of my USB Pendrive booting pages:
http://home.graffiti.net/jaclaz:graffiti.n...B/USBstick.html http://home.graffiti.net/jaclaz:graffiti.n...SB/USBfaqs.html I plan to contribute to the community a HOWTO about changing the "Fixed" vs. "Removable" state of USB sticks. I have solved the problem with my sticks, (OTi2168 controller) but at this point I need informations on other devices, see this: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?sho...ic=14181&st=869 What you can do if you are willing to help: 1) Download and use on the key this tool: http://www.wbj3000.com/checkudisk.rar post all the info gathered http://www.cososys.com/lockiteasy.html (hopefully it should recognize the controller) (look In left part of the splash screen, under "Current USB drive") post all the info gathered EDITED: it seems like the above ONLY works with OTi Controllers, following points are re-numbered accordingly: 2) post the exact Manufacturer, Model, whatever is physically written on your USB stick, like name, serial number, etc. 3) have a close look at your stick under a strong light, on a large amount of keys it is possible, with a magnifying glass, to read the actual make/model of the Controller Chip inside it, post this info 4) If you happen to have, or know where to get, a "Production Tool" a "Recover Disk" or similar software, post info about it Maybe, with the help of many members, it will be possible to make a correct list of correspondence and find the related tools. Thank you in advance. jaclaz -------------------- - Fighting against bloatware since 2004, and proud of it. -

Hi jaclaz,
I have a tool called EM-UD-Vers. 1.0 for an older small USB 128MB stick as password utility. If you like I send it to you via e-mail (here is not my old 128 MB stick tested but my 1GB Tinydisk). Written on it is "extremememory USB 2.0 1GB" (that's all). ---------------------------------------------------------- CheckUDisk.exe -> Name: USB Mass Storage Device (USB2.0) Logic Driver: H:\ VID&PID: Vid_0457&Pid_0151 Speed: high speed VendorID: TinyDisk ProductID: 2005-11-02 Product Revision: 0.00 Vendor Description: Product Description: USB Mass Storage Device Serial Number: 00000000000115 ---------------------------------------------------------- The LockItEasy.exe -> was not working proper, after an hour I just disconnected the stick Best regards Bernhard -------------------- Scumsoft spel chekar vor sail, worgs grate!

It seems like Tinydisk is a trademark of Veritech:
http://www.veritech.com.tw http://www.veritech.com.tw/download.htm I'll have a look at their utilities and drivers to see if I can "steal" some informations. Could you please check if the image here: http://www.gobeyondltd.com/products/results.asp?id=38 or the image here: http://alisveris.tr.net/product.php?ID=153247 represent that key, or it is of this other kind: http://www.shop4memory.com/products/usb-drive-tinydisk.asp or is it this "extremememory" kind: http://www.extrememory.de/ (please post a link to an actual image of the key you have) To me it looks like they are marketing the Veritech ones.... ...the classical example of how NOT to find a format utility... About the utility you have, yes, please send it to me via e-mail: jaclaz_at_techemail.com jaclaz -------------------- - Fighting against bloatware since 2004, and proud of it. -

QUOTE (edborg) I just wondered how something like THIS can be made (I mean pasting an image in a post): You insert a tag in the body of your post, by pressing the 8th button from left in the tool bar you get when posting: 1 = Bold 2 = Italic 3 = Underlined 4 = Stroken 5 = Text color 6 = Insert Link 7 = Insert Email 8 = Insert Image 9= Quote 10 = Code then you give to the popup full Http address of the image. @Kachoperro
During my wanderings on the net, I just happened to find the Sandisk Format utility http://www.sandisk.com/Oem/DesignSupportTools/ http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/OEM/Des...b-test-tool.exe Maybe, just maybe, is what you need. @all From the reports till now gathered it appears that the Lockiteasy program only works on OTi controller based sticks, I am editing out first post, hoping I will soon find a more complete "property listing" tool besides checkUdisk. jaclaz -------------------- - Fighting against bloatware since 2004, and proud of it. -

I must stress though that the only drive i used it on so far is the 128 mb elite v1.x jumpdrive and i cannot confirm if this works with other sticks of lexar. Other users should report if possible. (it was neccessary to use it because on the 824 bios version of DFI Lanparty UT-D NFORCE 3 the stick wouldnt boot and would freeze the computer if tried to boot from it, different mobos/chipsets and bios versions may have varying results): jaclaz info tool report: Name: JUMPDRIVE ELITE (USB2.0) Logic Driver: I:\ VID&PID: Vid_05dc&Pid_a400 Speed: high speed VendorID: LEXAR ProductID: JUMPDRIVE ELITE Product Revision: 1000 Vendor Description: LEXAR MEDIA Product Description: JUMPDRIVE ELITE Serial Number: 0A4EEC*************** (censored) |
