Overview

KeePass is a free/open-source password manager or safe which helps you to manage your passwords in a secure way. You can put all your passwords in one database, which is locked with one master key or a key-disk. So you only have to remember one single master password or insert the key-disk to unlock the whole database. The databases are encrypted using the best and most secure encryption algorithms currently known (AES and Twofish).

System Requirements

  • BartPE v3.x and XPE (recommended).
  • Your VGA Card Driver Plugin (recommended).
  • Windows XP SP2 on your host OS.

Instructions
  • 1- Download KeePass for PE from Here ►[MD5: C2C6B12CDE3D679CF9B7813B941AAA3C]
  • 2- Uncompress the Plugin.
  • 3- Copy this folder to Plugin directory.
  • 4- Start your build and enjoy !

Wouldn't it just be easier, and much smaller, to keep your passwords in a simple text file (.txt) and use WinRAR or similar to make a self-extracting archive that is PW-protected? I'm just sayin'... .

This file could be placed anywhere on your PE disc.

xtremee,

I already use Keepass on my host machine and like it very much. Would like to include in my next WinPE build but my host machine is Vista (am able to successfully build XP-SP2 PE discs using UBCD4Win in Vista). Will your plugin not work with a Vista host? Requirements say XP-SP2 host is necessary, but is Vista just not officially supported or is it unfeasible?

Thanks.

Just for the record, I find this small app very handy:

QUOTE
fSekrit is a small application for keeping encrypted notes.

The real advantage of fSekrit is that notes are truly self-contained; the editor program and your note are merged together into a tiny self-contained program file, removing the need to install a special application to view your data.

This makes fSekrit ideal for keeping encrypted notes on, for example, USB flash drives.

@jaclaz

Thank you a lot, yes this portable application is a real gem !

I know other persons that previously use MS Word on document with password protection. But this needs MS Word of course, which is
not really friendly for putting to USB keys to run everywhere !

@ PBear,

first i'm so sorry for any delay in reply. That bcoz i was too busy due to my Mid-Term exams.

QUOTE

As far i know that UBCD4Win consist of PE Builder (BartPE) and a lot of plugins. So since there is till now no new version of BartPE that support Vista yet this mean that you can't build PE CD using BartPE yet thus i said it is necessary to build on XP-SP2 host.

Will your plugin not work with a Vista host?

KeePass program can work on Vista, each 32-bit and 64-bit.

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and included it in my Vista-built XP-SP2 PE CD anyway and there was no problem. KeePass runs perfectly from the boot CD, too, as expected.

Using BartPE with UBCD4Win works fine in Vista, you just can't build a "Vista" CD. You have to use WinXP or Win2K source files to build the CD from, but you can build the boot CD in Vista as long as you run UBCD4Win as Administrator.

I guess it was your terminology for the requirement, "Windows XP SP2 on your host OS," that confused me. By "host OS," I thought you were referring to the OS on the machine you would be building the CD from, not the OS you would be running the PE CD on. Maybe it could say "Windows XP SP2 operating system on the host CD" or something like that. smile.gif

Thanks for that. It is new for me.

When i said that i mean the first one. That it as some files are needed to be taken from the host OS so that it must be XP-SP2. I try to build before on Windows 98, ME but it don't work, I never try in Vista as i don't have it yet but it is a good news to hear that it possible to build on Vista Hosting.

It is known that Vista Builder didn't came yet so it is default mean you can build XP SP2 only till now. MAY BE i will change my statement but after i'm being sure about it and after test.

Thanks for Feedback.

Excellent plan. At some point, someday, you'll probably be working from a Vista environment, so you'll be able to verify it for yourself. More important was your intent to exclude known, earlier, incompatible hosts (it's been so long since I've worked on a Win95 or Win98 machine that it completely escaped my notice that your requirement might have been meant to warn against those operating systems more than, specifically, Vista). Best wishes. happy71.gif
