I want to use the DriveImage XML plugin to restore system disk images taken on a Windows 7 PC. I have DriveImage XML V2.12, which supports Windows 7.
Can I build Bart PE using a Windows 7 DVD, or must it be my previous XP CD? If it has to be XP, will it work on the Windows 7 PC, booting to the XP Bart PE CD? Then restore the image using the DriveImage XML V2.12 plugin with the Bart PE disk, having done this will the restored partition still be bootable? |

DiX backs up and restores partitions. It does not backup or restore MBRs. If the MBR hasn't been deleted or damaged then after restoring the c: drive partition the machine should be bootable. hth -------------------- A useful posting: Adding drivers to BartPE; NIC, SATA, video A helpful thread: BartPE Troubleshooting FAQs Use the forum's search tool to find postings about problems similar to yours. For searches involving three letter acronyms such as USB add an * to the end.
