Bart's PE with 64 bit Windows 7? Options

I installed Part's PE on a system with 64 bit Win 7 RTM Enterprise to create a CD to run Drive Image XML. I ran Bart's and created a CD with Drive Image as the only add-in selected. I booted the system and went through the Drive Image menus -- but I did not try to create an image. Everything appeared to operate smoothly.

I subsequently went to Bart's web site to read-up before I started to use Drive Image. At that point, I noticed in the comparison with Windows PE that "Bart's builder does not support Windows 64 bit editions". What does "not supported" mean relative to Bart's: 1) Are there known issues? 2) It has not been tested enough to have confidence with 64 bit? 3), Or the note is old and should no longer be there?

I can install XP 32 bit on an blank drive and re-create the CD if necessary. I would appreciate any advice and comment.

you can not use 64bit versions of Windows XP or 2003 as source files to create a BartPE CD

Regarding PC operating systems- Vista and Win 7 were not available when Bart's PEBuilder was developed so was not tested at the time but reports are that it works subject to problems with turning off all (inc Microsoft) Anti malware software which sometimes prevent files being copied, and User Acount problems.

Since you did not get any CD build errors, and also no CD boot up errors you are ok

Thanks for the reply.

Yesterday, I decided to "play-it-safe" so I trashed the Win 7 64 generated disk and created a new one by running Bart's in XP 32. Base on your note, I am glad I did. Imaging software is the last type of application that I want to take a chance with.

The BartPE system is more concerned with the files on the CD used as Source for PEBuilder than the system PEBuilder is run on.
