Virtual PDF Printer (go2pdf)
Printing support for all apps in BartPE (printouts are PDF files in the ramdrive)

- works in minimal BartPE builds with nu2menu and ramdrive, no XPE nor other special plugins required!
- based on Joshua's Printers Plugin, http://www.drowaelder.de/winpe/printers/printersEng.rar
- simplified and minimized by me
- plugin download page = www.fuwi.ethz.ch

the plugin contains the freeware version of go2pdf, www.go2pdf.com

-> if you like to print with real printers, then you should use Joshua's printer plugin!

Tried it on my WinXP+SP1 build with nu2menu/geoshell.

Attempting to print gives an error: "You do not have permission to use the selected printer. If you need access, contact your network administrator."

The Virtual PDF Printer is listed as a printer along with 'Add Printer'. Attempting to get the Properties for the Virtual PDF Printer gives an error: "The 'Virtual PDF Printer' printer driver is not installed on this computer......"

Have not tried any other printer plugins.

@solara

I can not reproduce your problems!

This is what i have done for testing:

- fresh download PEBuilder 3.13

- source = XP Professional SP1 (english) -> SP1 like you!

enabled plugins (standard plugins from the PEBuilder 3.13 download):
- nu2menu
- Keyboard
- ramdisk 32megs
- a43 filemanager
- startup group

The one and only additional 'non-Bart plugin' is my Virtual PDF Printer plugin
(note: the RamDrive must be B: otherwise you must change all occurrences
of "B:" in go2pdf_inst.reg to your RamDrive letter)

Thats all, no custum.inf, absolutly nothing else!

With this configuration, my Virtual PDF Printer works without problems!

I can print from notepad, also from wordpad, and i can print the testpage
(Properties of the Virtual PDF Printer, rightclick the PDF Printer
in a43 filemanager)

No other files are necessary as those i load in my plugin's go2pdf.inf
note: only 3 files are necessary from the XP-source:
ntprint.dll=2
printui.dll=2
compstui.dll=2
-> no *.vbs files and others, as other printer-plugins loads!

I do not know, from where your problem comes, perhaps from nu2menu with geoshell?
Or from an other of your plugins?
Or do you use XP Home SP1 as source?

Dear Fuwi!

First of all thank You for Your great work about Your Go2PDF-Plugin. This really works fine!

My question: I have bought another PDF Printer (namely PowerPDF) with what it is possible to create, save, load and merge printjobs so that I can very flexibly decide what I want to have in the PDF. I can start the printserver from this program, I can load and merge printjobs to one document, only if I try to create a new printjob by printing one page, I get the error "the printer queue is full" from the Windows spooler and I can do nothing against it. In A43 I can see my PowerPDF-Printer as printer and I can even see the settings of it, but if I try to change them, I get the error "this operation is not supported".

In Your plugin obviously the problem about the print spooler is solved. If I need to use Your plugin but changing from Go2PDF to another PDF Printer, what points I must respect?

@TheHive

CODE
The folder go2pdf doesnt even copy over to the XPE CD

there is no go2pdf-folder on the CD. All files go the system32 and system32\spool\drivers\w32x86

also check this:
the RamDrive must be B:
otherwise you have to change all occurrences of "B:" in go2pdf_inst.reg to your RamDrive letter)

what is when you start go2pdf_inst.exe manually after booting XPE? (in system32)

greez, fuwi

Tested it. I couldnt Print to PDF at first because the Virtual PDF Printer is not installed. You have to install it. Can you revise to make it automatically install the PDF Printer. I dont know if we need the other printers it installs to be able to use the Virtual PDF Printer. Are they necessary?

I had to open the plugin Info to find out where in XPE you had put the shortcut. Instead of Device tools folder. Why not Printers.

Thanks! Good job so far. Tested on XPE.

@TheHive

Which other printers? My plugin installs only one printer,
the Virtual PDF Printer, and it installs it automatically.
In my basic (Reatogo)-XPE, the printer is visible in
"Printers an Faxes" as the default printer.

Do you have an other Printers-plugin enabled?

Well I dont have any other printers plugins installed. I just downloaded your plugin and then recreated my ISO. Tested it and there is no default Virtual PDF printer installed in XPE when you first start it. You do get the Menu option under the Start menu Programs Device something to start the printer installation or the COM port something. When I do the first option to install all the following printers will install which also includes the Virtual PDF printer. I dont have any of the HP printers installed so I dont need those HP drivers to start or install. It uses one of the HP printers as default. I just wan the PDF Printer to start automatically. Testing was done in XPE.

Printer-HP-Deskjet-880
Printer-HP-LJ-4L
Printer-HP-LJ-III
Printer-go2pdf

This is what is included in your plugin:

\printersEng
Install Ports (COM - LPT).xml
InstallPrinter.exe
printers.htm
Printers.inf
Printers.txt
files

\files
STDNAMES.GPD
UNIDRV.DLL
UNIDRV.HLP
UNIDRVUI.DLL
UNIRES.DLL
Printer-go2pdf
Printer-HP-Deskjet-880
Printer-HP-LJ-4L
Printer-HP-LJ-III

@TheHive

tongue.gif Now i see...
this is not my go2pdf-plugin you are using!
what you are using is Joshua's Printers Plugin:
http://www.drowaelder.de/winpe/printers/printers.htm
http://www.drowaelder.de/winpe/printers/printersEng.rar

For testing my plugin, you have to disable Joshua's Printers Plugin, and download my go2pdf-plugin
from My Webpage
