I can't see how changing the pc name will fix the rpc server.

did you try it ? mad.gif

I think the reason for this behavior is that the PC-Name is somehow related to the security, at least with SP2. But I admit, I have no clue where this happens
But it works. Confirmed by several people, on different PCs.

for me renaming to MININT-JVC also solved the problem with rpc...
thanx cyrano

i had to rename the computername in every file
... in xpe-plugin
... in penetconfig-plugin (penetcfg*.ini)

what I am doing is:

Instead of starting penetcfg directly, I start it with a command file, then i set the regkey back to minint-JVC via reg file.

penetcfg.cmd
QUOTE
@echo off
start /wait %SystemRoot%\system32\penetcfg.exe /UseProfile:%SystemRoot%\system32\penetcfg.ini
regedit /s %SystemRoot%\activecomputername.reg > NUL
activecomputername.reg
QUOTE
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\ComputerName\ActiveComputerName]
"ComputerName"="MININT-JVC"

hi, I am getting the error message when I run TrueImage 8 in XPE.... "Error E000101F4: Cannot find the necessary TrueImage Modules, Please reinstall Acronis TrueImage."

It works fine in my WinXP though and I have copied the entire folder over including the following files:

CDRecord\*.*
Drivers\*.*
Schedule2\*.*

snapapi.dll=2,,1
setupnt.dll=2,,1
tifsfilt.sys=4,,1
timntr.sys=4,,1
snapman.sys=4,,1

Many thanks.

drizzle there are some files you have missed in system32 & common files folders in your xp system that trueimage needs.
Filecity your inf file looks similar to mine but still have the rpc server error on execute script . Trueimage 8 works up to the execution part & then the rpc server manages the script for it so it can use bus mastering controls for faster backups. We just need to nail which rpc part is missing from the rpc controls & add it to get trueimage working fully. biggrin.gif

Thanks Max400, I will search for the missing files.

Tureimage doesn't use .net @ all so it's strange to get an error from .net inside trueimage. Check that your .net plugin isn't affecting the rpc registry entries or base legacy driver entries.

well i can't get this to work either for DrHoang says this is the way...
Hi Twindude,

You don’t need an autobboot CD of True Image. After installing True Image 80( with the soft that you downloaded ), you enter Tools within True Image and find Rescue Media Builder. That help you to make a autoboot CD or 2 floppies disks rescue of True Image,80.

You should use WinISO 5.3 to make an ISO file for this CD rescue and save this boot file. Put the folder Rescue Manager in the common folders of Boot Wizard and edit the bcdw.ini to put Acronis.wbt ( boot file ) in this boot menu

Read carefully the ways to make a multi boot CD at http://www.wolfgang-brinkmann.de/bcdw/bcdw_e.htm.
I think that help you understand True Image much more.
Dr Hoang.

ONLY Problem at this time is I don't understand:
I create the ISO and save it as the acronis.wbt
now i have the Rescure Mgr folder but don't know where the "BOOT WIZARD COMMON FOLDER" is..........
Can anyone help with this????

Inside your boot wizard folder place a folder called Acronis. Inside Acronis put your .wbt file and your "file manager" folder from your true image rescue disk. I have done this and it works after I altered the bcdw.ini file. I had an extra space after Acronis (ex \ACRONIS \). It should be \ACRONIS\. No space after the s. Comment out some of the other boot choices and everthing is ready to go.

THanks

I have found that schedul2 must be running as service. I don't know unfortunatelly how to run it in BartPE. My tests with WinPE were unsuccessfull because in that case Acronis True Image doesn't find any hard disc althought is visible for other programs. sad.gif

ok the hard drive bit is easy > you need to have the generic volumes for your drives listed in device manager or true image won't see them.
The scedule2 bit is fairly easy > You have to edit into your acronis inf file the data that windows has under hklm\currentcontrolset\services\schedul2 key.
Then it activates the service when pe loads.

I thought the hard disk error was something related to how PE treats the storage devices. Have you had any success getting the "Unknown Devices" for the Generic Storage Volumes to get enabled in BartPE?
I have tried with HWPNP and I can not seem to get it to enable these items. Even using the /u switch to force HWpnp to attempt driver loads for Unknown Devices does not seem to work in my case. And even if it did work I always lose mouse functionality as soon as the hwpnp attempts to load support for the mouse. I think I have tried every combination of option switches I can dream of.

hwpnp -all /p +STORAGE\VOLUME /a /u
hwpnp -all /p +STORAGE\ /a /u
hwpnp -all /p +STORAGE /a /u
hwpnp -all /p =STORAGE\VOLUME /a /u
hwpnp +all /p =STORAGE\VOLUME /a /u
hwpnp +STORAGE\VOLUME /a /u
hwpnp =STORAGE\VOLUME /a /u
hwpnp +STORAGE\ /a /u
hwpnp +STORAGE /a /u
hwpnp =STORAGE /a /u
hwpnp =STORAGE\ /a /u
