Hello, I have ERD Commander and I cannot get .cmd file or .bat files to run. I get the error: "No applications associated with files of this type." When I try to run these files from the command prompt, it says, "Not recognized as an internal or external command" ohmy.gif

This is strange, ERD Commander is basically a vendor customized version of Windows PE. Any clues as to why any .cmd files or even the old Win9x .bat files wont run? I have already added both the autoexec.nt and config.nt files to the System32 directory thinking this might help.

Thanks.

Try this: cmdMS.exe your.cmd (here cmdMS.exe is a renamed cmd.exe from WinXP).

So, are you saying to rename the Windows cmd.exe file to cmdMS.exe or rename my .cmd file to this?

I have a script file called adaware.cmd. This copies and loads all the Ad-Aware files to the ramdrive. When I double-click on this file, it errors out.

He's saying run this from the command line:

CODE
cmdMS.exe adaware.cmd

Try run cmd.exe adaware.cmd (I apologize: no need to rename cmd.exe to cmdMS.exe)

I got it to work! laugh.gif

I had to add the XP cmd.exe to the ERD system32 folder, change its name to cmdMS.exe and add temp variables to the registry.

I know this thread is very old but please will someone tell me how to 'add temp variables to the registry' in ERD Commander.
