We got some new ThinkPad T43's and I tried to use our current bart PE CD and I got the error Network could not be installed. I downloaded the latest version of the driver and it is the same that I have on the bartPE disk now.

The T43's have a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabut Ethernet and the 3 files were included in the latest driver download and are the same on the BartPE disk now.

these are the 3 files in question

b57xp32.cat
b57xp32.inf
b57xp32.sys

the only differnce is the version of the files, could that be the differnce.

we have T43 ThinkPad 2687-D3U

Any help would be great ... thanks

If you have correctly placed the files in the corresponding bart pe folder. You might need to clean up the inf file. Infcachebuild is a great program to do so.

Hi,

I have the same problem with Dell Optiplex 620 Broadcom 5700 Driver.

When I use Win PE 2005 it works an I get in my setupapi.log the following:

#I022 Found "PCI\VEN_14e4&DEV_1677" in X:\i386\inf\b57win32.inf; Device: "Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet"; Driver: "Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet"; Provider: "Broadcom"; Mfg: "Broadcom"; Section name: "BCM5750A1.XpInst".

I have to say, with WinPE ist works, since I used the tool drvinst.exe to copy the driver to my RIS-Image. But I compared them with my original Image and I can not find any difference.

If I use Bartpe, the PCI\VEN_14e4&DEV_1677 will not be found. If I use bartpe -pnp it only shows pci\ven_8086&dev_2772&subsys_01ad1028&rev_02.

Now the big Question. How can I force Bartpe to find PCI\VEN_14e4&DEV_1677?

Thanks
Thomas

B57xp32.inf idicates a old driver.

IBM/Lenovo offers for T43 ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7fra14ww.txt

B57WIN32.INF
B57XP32.SYS
That's not b57xp.inf. Broadcom changed names years ago.

difference is the version of the files

Of course, use drivers relating to your hardware.
New hardware and old drivers dosn't match.

Broadcom offers BCM57xx Drivers v9.52b.

Try default BartPE first, that's penetcfg.exe is procesed by default.

Or try disable plugin "PENETCFG: Automatically start PE Network configurator" and run bartpe -pnp.

Or try HwPNP.

All set, all I did was copy the latest version of the driver files off the T43. Same file names just newer version.

thanks yall
