Hi,

I'm using BartPE and XPE.
First i had to uncommet the "RunOnce"-setting in the .inf -File to not start the tray application twice.
Otherwise i got the error message saying AcronisTITray.exe already running ! I think Autorun will start the cmd-file the second time.

Switching with ALT-M does work, but i see no trayicon. While switching the icon appears for a short time but then quickly disappears.
The modus-message while switching does appear so i can see witch mode i have !

Disable the Startup Group plugin and the Nu2Shell Menu Plugin and the systray application will work. This is documented in the XPE help file.

Friends, I could be wrong, but....IIRC, doesn't the Alt-M
key combination bring up the menu in Nu2Menu?

If it does, maybe that's not the best key combination
to use. Just a suggestion.

ALT-M is supposed to be only for Nu2Menu............it does tell you that in the post by Mustang

XPE uses the tray icon.

It just seemed logical when i scripted it, ALT-M (switch Mode) and besides, my hatred for nu2menu is well documented, so i wouldnt have the first clue what the hotkeys for it were. If people want it changed, no problem, let me or Mustang know.

The systray application DOES work as i mentioned above. Only the ICON IS NOT SHOWN ! ALT-M works !
And i don't want to disable Nu2Shell and Startup Group because i need them.
I also think this can not be the problem of the hidden icon ! Other systray icons are shown !

Other suggestions ?

Missing Icon in system tray is really caused by Nu2menu.exe

If i stop nu2menu.exe and trayicon in bartpe and restart trayicon it is shown.
if i start trayicon while nu2menu.exe is running the icon is missing.

can you solve this problem ?

Thanks,
Joe

Suggestions:
[1] Try and use the bold tags when emphasizing things, i and i alone am allowed to use CAPS as im the unruly one of the forums, and well ive killed newbies for less. smile.gif Seriously though, it gets your point across far better. also it may come across as argumentative or anger, and if theres even a sniff of discontent in the forums, i soon show up and have to deal with it, obviously i prefer to then make things worse. Im not responsible for what floats my boat, its genetic......

[2] The application i wrote was designed to detect which menuing system was in use and act accordingly, it was what i was asked for Mustang, its what i delivered to Mustang, and it works exactly as it was designed to do. If you choose to use both shells then thats your prerogative, but since the tray app works as designed, im reluctant to change its functionality for one person, when it works for the majority. If enough people ask for a change, it will get done.

[3] As ive handed the tray app and its src over to Mustang exclusively for him to use and modify, if you want a custom version of it, it would be better to ask him. In normal circumstances i would do a quick hack for you, but like i said ive developed it for Mustang and would prefer any changes or requests to be directed to him, he can then either effect the changes himself or ask me to do it which ill quite happily do. To do it directly for you would undermine the agreement i have with him, and i wont be doing that.

[4] If you know AutoIT, or any scripting language really, you can always write your own version, the addremfilters.exe is available from my website, the script i wrote for Mustang merely utilizes this in particular ways. Its not brain surgery.
Theres 4 suggestions, and quite frankly i feel ive been rather generous, which will only confuse the regulars.....

p.s. I get $1 every time i say Mustang

Thanks Frodo, well said.

Here's what I do and it all works fine. I don't enable Nu2Shell with XPE, but I do use Nu2Menu. I dont start Nu2Menu on boot. I create a desktop icon for it and only start it if I need to. This works perfectly. Why in the world do you need to run two shells simultaniouly. Going through all the work of rewriting the basics of how the tray app. works makes no sense to me.

As far as the ALT-M switch confilcting with initiating the Go menu in in Nu2Shell, I'm more neutral on that. If Frodo wants to change the switch to a different letter, I don't mind. Personaly, I don't think this is a big deal and would't bother with it myself.

Thanks, I thought i covered all the bases pretty well....

If you want to change the hotkey assignment, let me know, its five seconds work.

Hold down the ALT key and press M, then start TI and select Mount. Press ALT-M again to exit Mount mode. You should see a message each time you press ALT-M. This is the way Mustang's plugins work. The one supplied by Acronis does not have this capability.

@Mustang:
i use your plagin with Acronis True Image 10 in connection with XPE. I have two questions to your plugin:

1. Is it really necessary to start the Autorun0_StartAcronis.cmd script at boottime? or is it sufficient to start this scipt directly before the call to TrueImage.exe?
To the background: I use a BestCrypt-plugin too and use Paragliders HWPnP.exe to make the Volumes of the mounted BC-Containers visible in Windows-Explorer (see here). This dont work any longer after the Autorun0_StartAcronis.cmd has run.

2. I have tested your True-Image-Plugin and i have found that i can make Bachups and restore them also in the "mount"-Mode. Is there any restriction of Thrue Image in this mode? If not, why dont you use this mode permanently?
