Full Version: Errors copying Windows files during builds with Version 3-05
The CD Forum > Bart's PE Builder > UBCD4WIN

I recently downloaded and installed the new version 3-05, but I've found that I'm unable to complete the build process. I have tried with several combinations of sources, source folder names, and build folder names. The errors are almost always the same, and occur during the process of copying Windows files. The errors are not related to plugins, and have occurred even when attempting the default build with no additional configuration.

What is most puzzling is that when using the same source, as well as the same folder names for both input and output, I am able to complete the build and build the ISO with Reatogo 2-40. Since both your product and his use Bart's PE Builder 3.1.10a, I'm confused about how this can happen.

There are about 64 errors each time, and they occur only in the section of the build which is supposed to copy files to the CMDC directory in the build output. Most files which are supposed to go in that folder return the same error. To illustrate, I am providing the first and last lines from the build log which show the point in the process which returned the errors:

DecompressOrCopy file "G:\XPPro_Dell-OEM_SP2+LaterUpdates\I386\TXTSETUP.SIF" to "K:\UBCD4Win_BuildFolder\CMDC\TXTSETUP.SIF"
Copying file "G:\XPPro_Dell-OEM_SP2+LaterUpdates\I386\1394BUS.SY_" to "K:\UBCD4Win_BuildFolder\CMDC\1394BUS.SY_"
Copying file "G:\XPPro_Dell-OEM_SP2+LaterUpdates\I386\ACPI.SY_" to "K:\UBCD4Win_BuildFolder\CMDC\ACPI.SY_"
Error: CopyFile() "G:\XPPro_Dell-OEM_SP2+LaterUpdates\I386\ACPI.SY_" to "K:\UBCD4Win_BuildFolder\CMDC\ACPI.SY_" returned error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.

Copying file "G:\XPPro_Dell-OEM_SP2+LaterUpdates\I386\VIDEOPRT.SY_" to "K:\UBCD4Win_BuildFolder\CMDC\VIDEOPRT.SY_"
Copying file "G:\XPPro_Dell-OEM_SP2+LaterUpdates\I386\WMILIB.SY_" to "K:\UBCD4Win_BuildFolder\CMDC\WMILIB.SY_"
Error: CopyFile() "G:\XPPro_Dell-OEM_SP2+LaterUpdates\I386\WMILIB.SY_" to "K:\UBCD4Win_BuildFolder\CMDC\WMILIB.SY_" returned error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.

Besides the fact that the Reatogo build process finds these files, I have confirmed that they exist in the source, but not with the compressed extension, i.e. as videoprt.sys instead of videoprt.sy_. It appears that for some reason the processing instructions for these files is "copy" rather than "DecompressOrCopy file." However, as you can see by the results shown above from the build logs, this method worked for other files with the compressed extension.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

If your building UBCD4WIN you should not use a source with updates added beyond SP2. See http://ubcd4win.com/howto.htm.
