What is your target OS?
oRDoSS
XP SP2
Jaque
@oRDoSS

I just built a clean BartPE CD based on Windows 2003 SP1. Once booted I started Smart Driver Backup and selected my C:\Windows folder (=Windows XP SP2) as the source.
I saw all the Non-Microsoft drivers I installed. So, unfortunately I cannot reproduce your problem.

If you select View - View all drivers you still don't see any drivers?
What happens if you select a new Target Root by using File - New Target Root and afterwards View - View all drivers?

Jaque

I'm not a newbie wink.gif Of course, I try to select new Target root, and View all/View Non MS with so success. Driver list still clean. For test reason build PE with Double Driver + runscanner redirection. This duo normally detect all drivers.
Short about PE: XPE 1.07/Russian locale plugin/3110a/Runscanner present.

I can upload my system plugin infs (xpe, locale) if you need it for tracing error.

Could you check if this registry key exists "HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\minint" before running Smart Driver Backup.
If this registry key exist check if the registry hives HKLM\X_SOFTWARE and HKLM\X_SYSTEM are present when Smart Driver Backup is running.

Jaque
hoest
It works fine in my bartpe build. US Win XP SP2 and NU2 menu.

HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\minint exist, but called MiniNT. Maybe case sensitive?
X_software & X_system exist.
Jaque
@oRDoSS

- MiniNT is oke
- X_software & X_system exist is oke

I am not able to check the problem in the next 5 weeks. Afterwards I will look into the code again.

I have tested command line version and it works fine !
thanks again jaque

This is the best driverbackup program there is. biggrin.gif Your new cmdline version is great too! Thanks a lot. I had created a driverbackup utility that worked well in windows but it didtn't work in bart. So yours is much better than mine. wink.gif

really useful
1 request... in a future version can you add the possibility to select drivers by hardware type(eg. network, video, audio..)?
If u want you can share the source and we might work togheter on it..

thanks you much this is a really nice plugin can i use this on vista too ?
Galapo
I have no idea as I've had reason to upgrade to Vista and when I replaced my laptop this year I could still get XP with Dell.

But it would be easy to test yourself if you have Vista.

Smart Driver Backup 2.10 (GUI only, no commandline version yet!)

Easy and high-speed backup of your Windows device drivers.

when I try to launch this nothing happens... It does not start! Does anybody else have this problem? I had no problems with version 2.03...

I just tried it and it opened its window for me. Check your av/as logs, something may be blocking it for you.
Jaque
@Hoest,

Please provide some more information. What OS did you try it on? Windows XP, Windows 2003, BartPE based on XP or BartPE based on Windows 2003?
I tried it on 4 different systems running Windows XP and Bart PE (based on XP). It worked on all these systems without problems.

Or are you talking about downloading?

Jaque
hoest
I have no AV/AS scanners running in BartPE and I don't use XPE either.. I run a BartPE disc built on XP SP2 US version. I use a standard setup with a 100 MB Ramdrive and a 32 MB FBWF plugin. I tried to launch it from BartPE, where the Target OS is XP SP2 ... no errors appear, but no launch either...

It runs fine in Windows, but not in BartPE.

Regards

Hoest
Jaque
@Hoest

No problems here when running BartPE based on XP SP2 US and Target OS is XP SP2.
One of the first things that happens is the Browse for Folder question to select your local Windows folder.
But if I understand you correctly you even don't get this question.

Try 1
====
What happens if you change the ForceNewFolderButton setting in SmartDriverBackup.inf to 1?

; Change the value in the line below from 0 to 1 to enable the "New Folder" button in the save dialog when running BartPE/Windows PE.
; You can set the value safely to 1 if you have enabled the plugins "XPE 1.07" and "XPE 1.07: Defaults"
0x4, "SmartDriverBackup","ForceNewFolderButton", 0

Try 2
====
What happens if you run "Smart Driver Backup using SetTargetRoot"?
In this case you need to enable Paragliders SetTargetRoot plugin ( http://www.paraglidernc.com/plugins/plugins.htm ).
hoest
Both suggestions is a no go... sorry. I will try your debug version and let You know.

Hoest
Ed_P
Final thought, does the file name's case match what is in the Nu2menu.xml file?
hoest
The debug version does the same as the other one... nothing at all. Ed, Im not a rookie biggrin.gif

Hoest
Jaque
@Hoest
I think the problem is caused by the PE resource limitation. Nu2Shell, PELoader or XPE could overcome the resource limitation.

Your PE version probably takes up some extra resources, leaving not enough resources for Smart Driver Backup. In this case Smart Driver Backup doesn't show up. I simulated this on my PE system by first opening 2 others apps and then running Smart Driver Backup. In this case it didn't show up. After closing 1 of the 2 apps it showed up.
The latest version of Smart Driver Backup probably needs more resources than previous versions.

So, if Smart Driver Backup doesn't show up use a plugin to overcome the resource limitation or deselect some of your current plugins to lower the number of resources used.

Jaque
hoest
But i already use Nu2Shell ... ?? so I don't know what to do

Hoest
Jaque
@Hoest

try if it works without any other BartPE plugins enabled.
In this case you are able to determine if Smart Driver Backup can run fine on your system.

Jaque
Jaque
@Hoest

As you are not a rookie I assume we are indeed talking about Nu2Shell and not Nu2Menu...
Nu2Shell is in the plugin\zz5\nu2shell folder. Nu2Menu is in the plugin\nu2menu folder.

If you are indeed using Nu2Shell try PELoader instead.

@ Jaque

I found the bugger ... it's Mustangs Hard Disk Manager 8.5 plugin. When thats disabled, your app works fine. So now I will revert to Paragons original BartPE plugin to resolve this issue.

Hoest
Jaque
@Hoest

Thanks, great is solved now!
hoest
hmm... your app also conflicts with Paragons own Harddisk Manager 8.5 plugin. Can you fix that??

The original plugin is here: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?sho...&hl=paragon
hoest
I know fixing this might not be possible, so people will just have to make a choice.

Hoest
Jaque
@Hoest,

Try changing this setting in phdm85.inf
CODE
0x1,"ControlSet001\Control\Nls\Language","Default","0419"

to
CODE
0x1,"ControlSet001\Control\Nls\Language","Default","0409"

If it is still not working remove all the NLS entries in section [SetupReg.Addreg] and use only these entries:
CODE
[SetupReg.Addreg]
0x1,"ControlSet001\Control\Nls\Locale","00000409","1"
0x1,"ControlSet001\Control\Nls\Language Groups","1","1"
0x1,"ControlSet001\Control\Nls\Locale\Alternate Sorts","00010407","1"

Jaque
hoest
Just did a virtual test of this and it seems to solve the conflict! I will test if it works in real life tommorow... thanks!!

What exactly does this do??

Hoest

Smart Driver Backup 2.02

I am new and very slow, so please use baby words. What file do I save the drivers to (/drivers/net/newfolder?)?
then I do a build with no media output

(this part I am still fuzzy on)
then I use the x86 version of ifcachebuild to compare/change my driver inf files
omigosh, it worked! lol

now, do I need to add a plugin to get it to see all of this I have done?

Uhg, now it says couldn't find NTLDR
changing all to upper case
it's days like these that I know I am just not smart enough smile.gif
Yes...BartPE screen. Now will I have network support??? we shall see.
crap unable to install network adapters.
It doesn't seem like it should be this hard.

Very new, please be gentle.

Hello,
i have a Problem similar to that of Hoest. I can not see any Driver under Bart-PE when the TargetRoot is a Windows XP-Home SP3 Installation. Within the XP-Home Installation it works without any Problem. On a different Computer with Windows XP-Prof SP2 it works also fine.
Can anyone confirm this behavior? Otherwise it is a Problem of my XP-Home Installation.

c:\MyDrivers would be appropiate. The output of Smart Driver Backup isn't intended to go directly to a PEBuilder folder.

Once the drivers are backed up you can copy the NIC drivers folder to PEBuilder\drivers\net then build your BartPE system.

Did you try SDB without the TargetRoot option? It works for me on my XP SP3 systems.
knoks
@ED_P:
I start the GUI version of SDB 2.11 without any option from my BartPE-CD (XP-Prof SP2 with XPE). After the Start i have to select the TargetRoot (HD-Installation XP-Home SP3). No Drivers found. I tryed also the console version of SDB without success. Do you extract the Drivers from a XP-Home or a XP-Prof TargetRoot?

After the Start i have to select the TargetRoot (HD-Installation XP-Home SP3).

I have two menu options for Smart Driver Backup, Smart Driver Backup and Smart Driver Backup using SetTargetRoot. The latter is greyed out as I don't have the SetTargetRoot plugin installed. I click on the live menu option SDB starts, a Browse for Folder window opens, I open the hd's Windows' folder (XP SP3) and SDB opens up with all the system's drivers listed.

I don't know what "HD-Installation XP-Home SP3" is but it's not the name of an installed Windows system folder I've ever seen.

You are using NU2SHELL. I use XPE. Therefore i have only one menu entry (without SetTargetRoot.exe). I tryed it also with NU2SHELL but without success (empty driver list).
