CDFS is optical media. What are you trying to do exactly?

What do you like to accomplish finally?

Do you use U3 hardware?

Do you use non U3 hardware, but like to add a cdfs?
Conversion from FAT16 to CDFS: Create a ISO image. Use dd and write image to USB drive.
However reading is another question.

U3 cd partition emulates a USB CD drive.
This is part of the firmware. Use U3 hardware.
There is no general solution transforming any USB Flash device.

Do you like to replace a default U3 cd partition?

The U3 CDFS partition is 6MB and can not be made larger so it's usefulness is limited. And no it can not be added to just any USB stick, the stick's firmware has to be designed to support it.

Thanks for everyone

And my need is to do the AutoRun program
which need to by-pass the Windows Auto-Play Selection
This is the requirement from my boss

What I have done is the
Autorun.inf
[autorun]
open=setup.exe
action=Printer Driver Install
shell=open
ICON=icon.ico
LABEL=Printer Driver Install

The one is still need to click the selection to run the setup
But my boss want to do this action directly
just like the CD-ROM

I have search in somewhere
and some is saying the hardware controller
or something else change it to the fix drive and not the removable device

and I want to know is there anyway / method to do that

Thanks a lot for all the helps ~

Hardly. There is a write protection for this 6MB partition.

This is correct. While my U3 device may support the U3 firmware, however it can also be disposed of.

In fact, there is something bothering me about the U3 stick.

I backed up my data, backed up the MBR and used PeToUSB to create my usable WinPE on this stick. It is properly formatted in FAT16 and has an incredible capability of booting right after POST without some hidden CDFS partition getting in the way. It's truly a remarkable device. laugh.gif

Use U3 hardware. Select hardware with editable U3 CD part.

jaclaz named a link already.

I have taken your instructions and gone way beyond them to install a 438meg bootable Windows PE CD ISO image made with Reatogo to the U3 partion of a 1gig and 2 gig SanDisk Cruzer.
Therefore CD part is not limited to 6meg.

An interesting link cdob. Thanks.

I boot BartPE on my U3 SanDisk Cruzer stick and I didn't remove the CDFS partition nor use it to boot BartPE. I also have a couple of U3 apps on the stick and the stick is password protected. So it is possible to have both functions on the U3 sticks.

NOT AT ALL. rant.gif

The referenced file is an utility from USBest and will work ONLY with UT163 and UT165 controllers.
And since it is an OLD version of the utility, most probably only with some versions of them.

More recent USBest tools can be found here:
http://flashboot.ru/index.php?name=Files&a...p=cat&id=11

BUT search for your VID and PID here:
http://flashboot.ru/index.php?name=iflash
to find one suitable to the controller you actually have.
