Full Version: Using parted magic
The CD Forum > The CD Forum > Bootable CDs

Thinking that parted magic had to be burned to a live CD much the same as gparted I did just that and burned a live CD.
Attempted to treat it like gparted I booted, it went through some gyrations and ejected. Obviously it needs to be installed to the HD. Is that correct
And if so is there a dedicated location to save this program. If I sound confused or seemed to have miss stated my concern please excuse me.
I am a newbie and I might add a 76 year old newbie who is in the throes of some huge partitioning challenges.

Thank you for your time and any help you might be able to offer

Age is no excuse, we have newbies who are teenagers!! ohmy.gif Everyone starts off as a newbie at some point.

Have you looked at the UBCD4WIN CD builder? It's a preconfig'ed CD with a lot of tools built in.

Hmmm, trying to read between the lines here. Did you download an ISO image of Parted? If so then the IMAGE needs to be written to a CD, not the FILE. Using some CD software like Nero you need to tell it to burn the image to the CD. In my older version of Nero I go the the menu and click RECORDER and then BURN IMAGE and steer it to the ISO file and it writes the whole disk image to the new CD disk, the boot sector, the contents and everything. Once it is done you can check the disk in Explorer and it will have the ISO's CONTENTS on it, that is all the files INSIDE the original ISO file.

A free and useful FREE CD burner is ImgBurn http://www.imgburn.com/ . When I run it in EZ Mode (the installed default) WRITE IMAGE TO DISK is the first choice. Click it and then click the little Explorer icon and steer to the ISO. click it and then click the big write icon at the bottom of the dialog.
