Full Version: Issue with BartPE booting from CD (CDBOOT: Cannot boot from CD)

Hi all,

I've just built my BartPE environment that I want to use for various things instead of a bloated OS on my laptop. The issue is when I do this and make a bootable CD for BartPE using Nero 7, I get this:

CDBOOT: Cannot boot from CD - Code 4

What does this mean? I've disabled ;1 ISO extensions and such. Here's what I'm doing in Nero:

Any suggestions? I put all the PE files in the root of the CD area that's going to be burnt to disc. It just gives me that error when I reboot and boot from CD.

EDIT: I chose No Emulation instead of "Harddisk Emulation" in the first pic.

Have PEBuilder create the BartPE ISO then burn the ISO to the CD. That can be done by PEBuilder also or with Nero or many other programs.

Also, if you want to use (WHY? unsure.gif) Nero or any other burning software, you need to use "no-emulation", NOT "hard disk emulation", and load 4 sectors.

P.S.: to clarify the CD bootsector is 2048 bytes long, i.e. 4 "normal" 512 bytes sectors, 4x512=2048

Hi Coburn 64

In Nero to get to Burn Image go first to Recorder icon (version 8)

there is no need to use the options for creating a bootable CD when you have a iso image
This might be useful if creating a bootable XP CD after slipstreaming in SP3 to a earlier version but not for burning an Iso image file

ImgBurn is a small, reliable, free program specialising in burning images (www.imgburn.com)

Thanks for the help guys (and girls).

PE Builder seems to have a issue of making dud ISOs, as when I test them in Qemu, I get a 'biosinfo.inf cannot be loaded - error code is 14' message. I'll see if this is fixed (I'll do another build). Thanks all! thumbsup.gif
