Full Version: Is this possible?

I need to create a CD that will allow connection over a secure channel and allow you to remote control the PE environment.
Is this possible with UBCD4Win and how do I go about it.

Reason for wanting this is that I have my server located at a facility that has a dumb rule about not being allowed to recreate backups on colocated machines (legal aspects) I can however get them to put a CD in the server, so if this is possible I would be able to recreate backup remotely using drivesnapshot or Acronis.

Situation is not changed much since then, there are two alternatives:
  • you learn how to do it yourself
  • you find someone willing to do the work for you

I guess that what you need is a PE able to run a VNC like tightVNC, but if all the limits and problems for testing/troubleshooting are the same as they were, it won't be easy.

I was hoping sombody had maybe done something in the meantime. smile.gif
Things are a little different now. I have 14 days with the server, so I can troubleshoot.

I ended up implementing the Hamachi part from above together with RealVNC. With RealVNC I could restrict incomming connections to only come from my Hamachi IP, so 100% secure and accessible behind firewall.

I have got everything autostarting so the tech at my server location just have to pop in the CD thumbsup.gif

I have got it working on BartPE+XPE and also on UBCD4Win

Except for those using a hacked or phony version of your IP address.

Happy to hear you got it to work the way you wanted.

UPS - Not completely done. Just noticed that my drives are not showing - guess I manually have to ad the Adaptec Perc 3/DI RAID drivers. I have the driver package and the txtsetup.oem looks like this:

CODE

Any pointers as to how to ad the driver to the XPE version and UBCD4Win?

Hi Ed_P

Yes, 100% is probably an overstatement rolleyes.gif But I will only be on the net with the rescue CD for very short times and there is nothing really open for exposure on the CD. Besides they would have to also crack my VPN Password.

Do you have any info on hacked Hamachi IPs?

Regarding Drivers - I am looking into the link you provided.
