Full Version: Bart PE missing files

My PC runs with Windows XP Home Edition sp3 and I wish to use PE Builder v.3.1.10a to create a boot disk.

I created an ISO image using my Windows installation disk (SP 2). The log file generated indicated no errors but warned me that several files could not be found. The missing files are:
iaStor.sys
SiSRaid.sys
viapdsk.sys
viamraid.sys
nvraid.sys
nvatabus.sys
adpu320.sys

I burned the ISO image to CD and then I tried to boot from the CD but the boot failed because the file iaStor.sys could not be found.

The iaStor.sys file is on my hard disk (it is in the C:\WINDOWS\OEM directory). The other 'missing' files that the PE build process warned me about are in sub-directories of C:\WINDOWS\OEM.

Can I use the versions of these files in C:\WINDOWS\OEM to create a new ISO image and if so, how do I do it?

Thanks.

Sounds like a Dell problem, this posting may interest you:

Thanks for the reply.

My PC is a Fujitsu Siemens. So will this solution work for me even though my PC is not a Dell?

Possibly. It certainly won't hurt to try it. Based on your results we will know the answer. happy.gif

I created the DellFix.inf file as suggested and placed it in a folder called DellFix within the Plugin folder of pebuilder. Howver, in creating the ISO image, the log file genereated warned that the same seven .sys files were missing.

As a long shot, I repeated this procedure using the FS_Fix.inf file intstead of DellFix.inf (FS for Fujitsu Siemens) but that had the same effect - the same .sys files were reported as missing.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Slipstream XP SP3.

Am I correct in assuming that I should create a CD with XP with SP3 and use that CD to create the PE builder ISO image (instead of the SP2 installation CD that came with my PC)?
billy26
That worked. I created a sliptreamed CD with XP / SP3 and used it to create the PE builder ISO image. I was then able to boot from a CD with the ISO image. Thanks for your help.

Slipstream XP SP3.

Doing slipstream to sp3 is not a good idea. It has a version of UAC and will not allow programs to work. Stick with sp2 . It will do all the bells required. My personal thought is to borrow someone elses xp install disk and run it from there. Just make sure you have the drivers downloaded for drive and network access.

Can you clarify this? Which UAC version is integrated in XP?
Which programs does not work? Does this affect BartPE?

When I load the slipstreamed CD and click on the 'Learn more about the setup process' button, it opens up the file setupxp.htm and that file refers many times to Windows XP with SP2 but SP3 is never mentioned.

So inspite of my attempts to create a slipstreamed XP SP3 CD, have I somehow created a slipstreamed XP SP2 CD?

Hi billy26

an indicator that XP CD or folder containing contents of XP has been slipstreamed to SP 3 is existence of file
win51ip.sp3 rather than win51ip.sp2 (I think ip means XP Pro)

Also latest date of files in \I386 would indicate sp2 (2004) or sp3 (2008)

The only known problem with using XP SP3 with BartPE is it breaks plugin for help files of CHM type (compressed html)
HHCTRL.OCX from XP sp1 or sp2 is required

Hi Mike,

I am using Windows XP Home Ed. and the slipstreamed XP CD that I created contains the file WIN51IC.SP2.

And the files in root of \I386 of the slipstreamed CD are dated 2004.

So it would appear that I have created a slipstreamed XP CD with SP 2.

Thanks.
