i have a pre-made build of bartpe that i was able to get to work from usb flash, aside from the network adapters not loading. but, the system language is german, and i'd like to change that to english. is there some way to do that? ditto getting at least the tcp/dialup to load.

i don't know what other specific info to offer, as i'm not all that familiar with pe. i really just want to clone my xp drive to flash and have it boot, but pe seems to be the only way to sort of do that.

No, I don't want to know how and where, it was just a rhetorical question.

Build your own PE from your licensed OS, XP or Server 2003 files, there will be NO help given on "tweaking" pre-built bartPE's.

Since it is not allowed to distribute Microsoft files, it is clearly a WAREZ release, which use we DO NOT support on this board.

If you need help on building a new bartPE or to have an XP booting from USB flash, start a new thread in the appropriate section.

Windows PE is the original Pre-install Environment form Microsoft.
BartPE is the result of running Bart's pebuilder.
There is at least another building engine called winbuilder.
You may want to check UBCD4WIN, which is a pre-configured set to build through Bart's PEbuilder a "general purpose" bartPE:
