Hi, I'm trying to setup some kind of windows XP or 2k on an prechistoric notebook (when its ready its supposed to be striped out of the casing and put on the wal as a Picture frame with WLAN so that a controlling PC can change the screan content from time to time)
It has 32MB RAM & 133MHz CPU and a 512MB CF card inplace of a HDD, yes I know its junk, but i refer to do something creative with it instad od throwing it away.
But my problem is that Win PE tels me thet there is not enough memory and it does not work.
How can I enable paging ?
You need a very, very,
very basic build.
Something along the lines of native_Ex based projects, like HojoPE or "barebone" (Search on Boot-land) or a VERY, VERY reduced kind of "full XP", something like this:
http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3717Of course the most problematic thing might be adding network support to such builds.
But, I would rather go for a less needing system.
Since XP "starts" with 64 Mb and 233 MHz CPU:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304297I would go for a heavily reduced (or nlited) 2K, or, better, a Win9x of some kind, or, IMHO
best choice if you both have a License AND you find the "right " drivers, a NT 4.00.
Mind you, XP has been started with 20 Mb on a 8 Mhz CPU:
http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2730http://winhistory.de/more/386/xpmini_eng.htmIt will take AGES to boot, though.
About paging, I seem to remember that the "hosting drive" needs to be seen as "fixed" in order to put a pagefile on it, this may NOT be possible on a laptop.
However FYI:
