Believe or not, there are plenty of elderly folks using computers.
A lot of them are very upset by nasty language. A few generations
ago men did not curse around women, and women weren't suppose
to curse at all!

I created a Bart CD for a gentlemen who is over eighty years old.
There are no problems with the CD, but he asked me if I could edit
out one line in a file. I thought it would be easy, but I'm having
problems.

This is the Mustang plugin file:

TrueImageHome11\PRE\Include\AcronisTITray.exe

AcronisTITray.exe was created with the popular scripting program AutoIt.
It's a compressed file, but I had no trouble opening the file with an app
called Resource Tuner. It shows all the resources contained in the file.

When the file is executed it displays a splash screen that says "another half-
assed tray script." I'd like to edit out this line, but I can't find it anywhere.
It's probably a jpeg or gif (maybe an icon?), so it shouldn't be that difficult
to locate.

Frankly, I kind of agree with my elderly friend. I think most folks use their
Bart CDs for creating backups. The last thing I want to see before I create
a backup is some jokers idea of a funny line. When it comes to backups,
my sense of humor is less than zero.

Can someone tell me where this line is hiding, and what app should I use to
edit this file?

Mustang is a bad subject to bring up.

He needed a LOT of guidance to create that series of plugins and the person who filled in the final blanks was FRODO.
He then deleted all his posts here where the plugins came from and is charging money to download them which is just plain wrong.

Frodo wrote all the autoit programs that mustang has in "HIS" plugins.

I believe the source code is still available on sourceforge.

I understand, hilander999.

I used those plugins because they work, that's it.
The plugins, or instructions to create plugins from
Acronis are lousy. If the Acronis stuff was good, I
never would have heard of Mustang.

I'm an electrical engineer by training. When I first
started a business with a few other guys we hired a
lawyer and filed for some patents based on our work.

The horrible truth is everybody leaches (theft, that is)
to make money. The great inventor Thomas Edison,
patented hundreds of products under his own name
that were actually created by brilliant people who worked
in his laboratory in New Jersey.

There is a very fine technical writer named Don Lancaster.
He practically begs people not waste their time trying to
patent or copywright anything!

Read about the history of television. A man named Philo
Farnsworth invented the CRT. He suffered most of his life
fighting big corporations who stole his ideas, while reaping
enormous profits based on Farnsworth's invention.

There is nothing more awful than ripping off someone else's
work. Most of us are helpless to do anything about it, unless
you have unlimited funds and are willing to fight in court for
ten or twenty years!

If have a family that loves you and a couple of good friends
you've got everything you need to live a good life. Expecting
that most people will treat you decent when there is a chance
to make money is not logical, as Mr. Spock would say.

I wonder if Mustang has a Red Shirt? devil.gif

It is probably upx'ed. What you need to do is first unpack the executable. Then either hexedit the executable and change the text, or decompile the executable into an au3. Then you have the source which you can change and recompile.

This is what I think, but I have not seen this particular plugin yet, so I'm not 100% sure.
