What this disk really needs is mkisofs and a set of scripts to automatically span your hdd to cds. Then a set of scripts to restore from the cds. I tried to set up this but know nothing a bout scripting or mkisofs or setting this up wth bartpe. This could be the best backup system designed. maybe with the cd recorder built into winxp It could be made to be the greatest backup tool out there but All people are doing with it is adding pluggins like ghost. most of the pluggins I have tried does not work any way. you seem to get mkisofs working to build bart with mkisofs "more then I was able to do, All my attempts at getting it to work under windows failed." Right now this is great for people that allready build stuff for there pcs but for people like me it has a very limited use. most of the programs there are built into pluggins Or ones that I do not use also many of the pluggins out there do not work. I ran across this looking for restore cd but it has the same problem all rescue/restore cd does. A realistic aproach to restoreing a pc back to the point you need your pc to.

It sounds like a commercial app specific to backing up and restoring like ghost or acronis is what you need.

Or if it has to be free, have a look at ubcd4win, there are several disk imaging plugins built in, no need to add them yourself.
Incidentally, mkisofs on it's own won't back up stuff like file security, junctions, >4GB files or other NTFS goodies. And CDR/DVDR are a short term backup medium at best.

Maybe this is an easier backup option: http://www.pcworld.com/article/185863/iome..._media_too.html
