Dear experts

Many times I tried to use an UMTS-USB-stick with UBCD4WIN without any success.
Is there a possibility ?

best regards

Hi everybody

One problem is still unsolved on XP-based live-CDs. If you need access to internet and there is no LAN or WLAN, then the only way is UMTS. There are some Linux-based live-CDs providing UMTS-internet but till now I found no solution for XP.
If I have to fix a computer far away from LAN/WLAN and I need some item from internet, I am still forced to switch to Linux to get it.

Answer to another question wink.gif:
QUOTE (hypothetical_question)
Put aside if through BartPE or UBCD4WIN or Winbuilder, is there a way to have a USB UMTS connection working in a PE?

Rather than a good solution, I have a workaround for it that might work.

Run a virtual machine on top of your PE and establish the mobile connection from there. Then bridge the connection the other way around as people normally would with a vm. This way you can coldclone/image (or whatever windows blabla) over mobile from the middle of the desert (assuming you have battery on your laptop lasting at least for the operation to finish)..

But if you're not in the experimental mode, then don't bother.

This way you can add network supported to your PE that is not otherwise supported.

Wow!! Driver Import PE sounds like it has a lot more uses than just UMTS support. Nice link jaclaz.
