Hello.

it is Possible to Disable Internet Explorer function on Sherpya XPE?
Bastian
Yup.
yefet
How can I do it?
Bastian
Before burning the ISO rename IEXPLORE.EXE to NOIEXPLORE.EXE.
yefet
I dont want IE cause I want to save space.
I dont want XPE to copy IE files.
mbarnes
Hi yefet

If you want to save space in BartPE build leave out all of XPE plugin
or include only the MMC plugin
parts can be useful especially Disk Management
What part of XPE to you need ?

I don't think removing IE will save much space compared to size of XPE

what amount of RAM is in lowest spec PC's you need to work on?

( I tested my normal BartPE CD build on a old PC with only 64MB of ram,
It only gives me a 2MB or 4MB ramdrive and requires a swapfile for extra virtual memory to enable some programs to work
This prevents many Anti-Virus utilities working as they need to be loaded into the ramdrive before starting
(see paragliders website for useful BartPE plugins and tools)

Hello mbarnes.

First of all thank you for your help.

I really like XPE Shell he is great, work fast and bag less (at least for me cause i'm using XP Heb).

The XPE Plugins that I use:
Windows XPE v1.0.7
Windows XPE: Custom v1.0.7
Windows XPE: Defaults v1.0.7
Windows XPE: MMC v1.0.7

for now XPE use 50 Mb and I believe if I will remove IE components I will save at least 20 Mb.
My lowest PC was with 128 Mb of ram.

Thank you again and have a nice day.

Aviayefet.

It is possible?

You could build from a source that had IE removed, using nlite or info from FDV?
yefet
I tried that already but when PE Builder Build my MiniPE I get some errors
dog
Errors about files missing would be expected.

There is XPE.inf Plugin that already modified?
Ed_P
No, you will have to customize it yourself. The PEBuilder error msgs should point you to what files need to be removed from the inf.

And BTW if the difference between the WinBuilder ISO and PEBuilder ISO is due to file compression which I assume is uncompressed when loaded to RAM the RAM requirement for both is the same. I'm not sure how much you will be saving eliminating IE.

If you eliminate the XPE plugins and just add the MMC and maybe the GeoShell plugins you may be better off RAMwise.
