I added Avant Browser GUI (portable) to my BPE/UBCD4W builds. I actually (have) never go(ne) online under a PE boot,
but Avant works well enough with IE6 and is indeed of portable simplicity. IE7+ have tabs, but IE6 does not.
Avant allows using IE6 in a tabbed GUI. Avant makes a few registry entries on first run,
but allows disabling/removing them when setting options/profile; so it might be best to use an already run Avant "install" as plugin input.

Greetings.
Avant - which will render MSIE from IE6 up (in a tabbed GUI) -
has just added the ability to render a/its "Gecko" browser (which is at the moment based on MFF 8.0).
I have (had) Avant portable on my USB stick as part of my BPE/XPE build
and now also run Avant (with Gecko as the default renderer)
under a normal XP boot from my USB stick ...
My opinion is / has been that the Avant GUI doesn't seem
to be the slickest browser GUI around, but now it has 2 attractive features -
1) rendering MSIE6 in a tabbed GUI; & also
2) rendering the latest Gecko browser engine ...
seems to make for a useful utility under BPE/XPE & also normal XP ...
