Full Version: Finally got BartPE to PXE boot my old netbook

Hello all. I've been pulling my hair out trying to get my ancient netbook (JVC mp-xp7210, p3-800, 384mb) to boot on the lan for days now.

Finally, by following a mixture of various how-tos, and ultimately realising my 64bit server was the problem I have a working boot of BartPE. I have a couple of problems though.

I have build the pe iso with the sis900 lan drivers that I thought I needed, and can see from the iso build log they're there. BartPE however doesn't find a NIC when I ask it to start the network, so I'm struggling to connect to my share on the server with the windows install files.

I've got a couple of other options, if I could make a USB stick or SD card readable in BartPE I think that might work for me?

I'm sure I'm not giving enough detail, but I'm quite a bit out of my depth with this task - if anyone can help me, please let me know what specific info I need to share?

Many thanks,
Alex

OK, a bit more info. I asked it to search for the NIC and this is what it came up with:
CODE
pci\ven_1039&dev_6300&subsys_16721043 (vga)
pci\ven_1039&dev_7013&subsys_16161043 (modem)
pci\ven_1039&dev_7018&subsys_14731043 (audio)
pci\ven_1180&dev_0576&subsys_16741043 (sd card)

I added the bits in parenthesis from googling them. It's just not seeing the NIC. Could it be that the TFTP client is not releasing it properly?

Well I made it. Oddly when I put the drivers for the SD card in the pe iso, they failed to load, but the lan card showed up and installed. Thanks heaps for all the knowledge in this forum, this old netbook would have been scrap without it.
