I don't know what you mean by "kosher" ones...but this was a legit version of Nod32, it's a stand-alone scanner, single file, kept up to date with a current install of the full version of Esset Antivirus. Thing is, I've even tried the full version install of Esset and it's not there, even though their own knowledgebase says it should be.
There was a link a while ago that linked to a page where this was being updated regularly. Esset even said that they didn't care if the stand-alone scanner was distributed, since it wasn't a licensed product. I've seen some plugins for it and even found plugins designed to update it once it's part of bart, but none of the links work anymore. The last person who was able to do this was PlaNed.
Any ideas would be helpful.

The site was probably this one

:
http://finalbuilds.com/nod32.htm(I am posting it since the link now points to the "regular"
http://www.eset.com/home/products/antivirus page)
The "release" was daily or something like it and was actually available here:
ftp://ftp.isu.edu.tw/pub/Windows/Edskes/n/(again I am posting this since it is now empty)
I doubt it was authorized/OK, though.
