Hello,
I'm trying to build a boot DVD using a Dell Windows XP install disk (SP2).
I followed the instructions on your FAQ page under "What steps are necessary when building with a Dell CD?", yet I'm still getting errors about missing files. Specifically the log shows the following:
Processing driver IDs
Checking for missing files
Warning: File "iastor.sys" not found
Warning: File "A320RAID.SYS" not found
Warning: File "aac.sys" not found
Warning: File "cercsr6.sys" not found
Warning: File "afamgt.sys" not found
Warning: File "aarich.sys" not found
Warning: File "NvAtaBus.sys" not found
Warning: File "nvraid.sys" not found
Warning: File "symmpi.sys" not found
Warning: File "megasas.sys" not found
Build ISO image
It proceeds to build and burn the DVD, but when I tried booting up my dead system, it fails with the error message "The file iastor.sys could not be found. Press any key to continue.", after which, when I press a key, it says, "Setup failed."
I can find these "missing" files on my XP setup CD, so I'm assuming that I only need to copy them to the correct location under i386 in the build folder on my hard drive before running the DVD build, but to where should I copy them? Is there more to it than that?
Another question: Will this boot disk, after successfully completed, allow me to connect a USB stick to the dead system booted with the boot disk? I need to be able to remove some files from an NTFS partition on the dead system, which is not a standard hard drive (so I cannot slave it to another XP box to extract the files). So I need somewhere I can copy the recovered files to. I hoped I could use my USB stick.
Thanks for any help you can give.
BTW, I'm actually trying to build a BartPE boot disk.
Wayne
