i also stopped using NU@Parser it was causing most of the double firing of the startup progs and was causing the My  Documents loop.

I too also had the mydocuments loop when i had the NU2Menu Parser running. I think there is some serious bugs in that program that need to be looked into before it is released to the public.

There's nothing in my program that triggers it. You can disable it by looking my plugin's INF and commenting out the line that executes AutoRun.cmd. I had this before Sherpya re-added autorun0xpe.cmd in 0.94.

blink.gif then maybe you could update you plugin so that it works with the latest version of XPE so no one else has this issue since this post is over 30 pages to navigate.
CWP
Yep... I've updated the page. I should have nu2parser v1.1 out in a few seconds.

Maybe I should also have my own thread on Nu2Parser wink.gif.

Edit: You know what? I'm gonna rebuild my ISO and make sure everything's ok first. smile.gif

Very strange??? It seems that XPELogon is not the newest (the icon is not the same as in the exe and it does not have the Ctrl+Alt+Del feature)...

Is this link: h**p://oss.netfarm.it/winpe/files/WinPE.zip correct?

FlukserCDS, how did yo do it??? I have been going nuts trying to have the parser progran, nu2, and xpe work together!!!! Pleeeeeeease post your nu2menu, nu2parser, and xpe directories in a zip file for those of us short on brainpower and time. If you can e-mail it to me I will post it on my ftp for people to download. I cannot be the only one in dire need of this and going nuts trying to make this all work. My e-mail is tony@tonycubed.com

In nay case, regargdless, congrats!

@sherpya

Some programs shows really big fonts in the dialog boxes in XPE.For example when I start WinRAR and select in the menu>Options>Settings the font in the Settings dialogbox is to big.This doesn't happens in other shells.Is there a workaround for this ?

Thx

Quick Launch: the following binary key activate or desactivate it
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop

@winnydows
I think it can be solved also making font "links" in registry

@FlukserCDS
Yes but I'm busy with my "real life" job, and I don't want to release a new version
until I reach enough changes/fixs/adds.
0.9.5 develop changelog:
CODE
- Changelog of 0.9.4 said XPEshudown fails silent, but updated xpeshutdown.dll was not in the package
- Added a check to xpelogon so if explorer dies before starting it will popup a MessageBox
- Fixed Desk.cpl stuff, thanks to 2ch.332 and team
- Made This file;)
- Added StartMenu key for xpeinit to put shortcuts on the root of start menu
- Added Net Shares (it works as service and in mmc but I'm not sure it really works, anyway thx to Trax for the tip)
- Thx to PEBuilder >= 3.0.24, now there is no need to disable, comment out stuff using it with w2k3
- gdiplus.dll is taken from @SourcePath@\i386\ASMS\1000\ and @SourcePath@\i386\ASMS\10100\ this should
 copy first gdiplus.dll from 1000 (old version) and then if exists 10100 (new version) will overwrite the old one

@v-marc

ok here is a suggestion for the next version

I would like to see a help file put on the desktop.
This would be great because i'm building this for work and most of my guys will need a little tutorial to get started. (working in a union enviorment you don't allways get the brightest in the bunch) blink.gif

huh.gif before you say anything.
This is what i was thinking.
If you created the links to a common location for us, we could create our own help file for the programs we have on our own systems.
Seeings my disk is probably nothing like yours and so on.

It could be a link to an HTML file or maybe a word doc that contains what is needed
For that matter it could even be a pdf.
I know i have viewers on my cd for word, html, and soon pdfs.

i would put this on my self but i'm not sure exactly how and i'm sure i'm not alone here.
sherpya
@Data & @Trax
sorry you are right, sources on my site are not up to date (very strange) anyway I'm almost releasing new version I'll update also sources.

@All
before releasing 0.9.5 I will check xpe + nu2menu + nu2parser all together, please post a link where I can download n2parser.

@FlukserCDS
I'm not really a good documentation writer smile.gif (as you have noticed), I can put an help file if you want to write it. I would prefer chm, anyway html is ok. I've also a working acrobat reader 6 plugin to see pdf, but it's not a good idea to force inclusion of another plugin to read docs

sherpya
i was NOT suggesting that you create the help file.
I was suggesting adding a section to the XPE-Custom.inf that would allow people to add there own help file to the desktop
All im suggesting is that you create the link.

you could make it 3 or 4 chooses

; Help file CHM
; Help file DOC
; Help file HTM
; Help file PDF

then the techie who is building there disk could just uncomment the help file format that they are most Comfortable with.

hope this makes more sence

edit
I just saw someone had posted how to add stuff to desktop.
Sherpya could you look at this and see if its what i'm suggesting above

CODE
[WinntDirectories]
a="Programs\helpdocuments",2

[SourceDisksFiles]
; PEHELP.chm=a,,1
; PEHELP.DOC=a,,1
; PEHELP.HTM=a,,1
; PEHELP.PDF=a,,1

[Software.AddReg]
; 0x2,"Sherpya\XPEinit\Desktop","PE Help File","%SystemRoot%\Programs\helpdocuments\PEHELP.chm"

; 0x2,"Sherpya\XPEinit\Desktop","PE Help File","%SystemRoot%\Programs\helpdocuments\PEHELP.HTM"

; 0x2,"Sherpya\XPEinit\Desktop","PE Help File","%SystemRoot%\Programs\helpdocuments\PEHELP.pdf"

; 0x2,"Sherpya\XPEinit\Desktop","PE Help File","%SystemRoot%\Programs\helpdocuments\PEHELP.doc"

if this is right it could just be added to the custom.inf and you could just let people deside which one is best for them.

Hi,
XPEinit is creating the Links to MMC Tools under ...\Default User\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools\.
but the right localisation is ...\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools\.
Control Panel is looking for Admin Tools only in the All Users Profiel  .
I tried to be slick and edit this line in xpe-custom.inf which changed the Ramdrives Documents and Settings directory from Defualt User to All Users, in a hope to get the menu Items there to pop up under the program menu as they should.

I tried it out and saw that the advanced settings under "Customize Classic Start Menu" were pointing to the "all users" profile like it should but still but still nothing was showing up under the actual programs menu. I'll work on it some more this weekend.

I really dunno exact size but you can test it using your windows installation:
just create oeminfo.ini
CODE
[General]
Manufacturer=Acme
Model=Windows XPE

[Support Information]
Line1=blablablablabla
Line2=blablablablabla

and a bitmap named oemlogo.bmp
and put it in system32
opening pc properties should show it
( I think the bitmap should be something like 172x172)
sherpya
@FlukserCDS
is not a problem, I can add it in xpe-custom.inf

@skippie
I've changed the system (in 0.9.5 will be different) because I was subclassing PROGRESS_CLASS and the system was getting confused about unicode/ascii.
Anyway I need to test it togheter with nu2menu. If now is ok you can hide xploading window this way:
CODE
#define WM_READY    WM_USER+100
#define MAGIC  0xdeadbeef
HWND XPELogon=NULL; /* Global */

BOOL CALLBACK SearchXPELogon(HWND hwnd, LPARAM lParam)
{
    if (GetWindowLong(hwnd, GWL_USERDATA) == MAGIC)
    {
 XPELogon = hwnd;
 return false;
    }

    return true;
}

...
EnumWindows(SearchXPELogon, 0);
if (XPELogon) SendMessage(XPELogon, WM_READY, 0, 0);
...

Cool !!! Very glad !!!
Now I try speak with Bart for incluide this fix in pebuilder. After this fix some other fonts look better, like in real XP.
paraglider
They worked for me as well ( US locale ).
LaptoniC
Finally it worked.In my opinion Keyboard,font,timezone etc. should be parsed from the registry where Pe Builder is installed.I guess it is much more work for coders but it will provide same windows just you have.
semorefred
i try and use the add remove programs from the control panel and get the error

title= parser message
text=value creation failed " at line 410

any clues...as to why????thanx in advance
sherpya
blink.gif remove programs from pe? and why?
semorefred
this probably sounds stupid but ohh well its all in the learning......suppose u say you install a program that you think is ok...but then bam.....you cant boot up anymore ....not normal or safe mode....ur only option is the disc or command prompt and manually remove from the program folders.......so you wanna use the disc.....is there anyway you could make the disc locate the programs on the c: and and remove them using the add/remove option in the control panel????? just a suggestion but could it be possible????/
sherpya
the idea is not bad but I think it wouln't be so easy to add/remove programs of a target windows using a boot cd

i dont think that this is possible. but a good coder may be able to pull it off.
Hell i think i'd even pay for that tool. (well maybe not me but my work would)

you would need to be able to get to the registry of the target machine. (which is possible)

Then you would have to find the reg key that was created to do an uninstall.

the problem comes in with the different versions of windows and how each handles Add Remove Programs.

The other big problem is what happens if the prog you installed replaces files that only a windows install cd can replace.

Then that would probably need to be edited to point to the actuall target harddrive and target registry.

Maybe one of the guru programers around here could right a code (gui) for it.

It would need to prompt you for the target pc's drive. And prompt you for what version of windows you what.
then it would need to access the registry of the target pc and find the add remove programs part of the registry and finally if would need to be able to run an altered command line of the prog in question.

by aultered i mean if it says c drive you may be ok because c is usually picked up but in some cases you may have installed it on another drive and PE may or maynot recognize it as the correct drive.
sherpya
usually uninstaller scripts remove files, this can be also in a target system, but for regkeys you need a proxed advapi32 lib, not so easy do to
semorefred
here something.....ok....i tried to execute the appwiz.cpl for the add/remove programs on the disc....but i just get the same error as before.....so i located the appwiz.cpl on the c: and executed it.....it works you can see the program window...but .......before i make the google toolbar do an autorun that exectues its dll file and loads it to the registry so when i executed the appwiz.cpl from the c: the program window opens but the only program there is the google toolbar...
and it does work i succesfully removed the google toolbar and readded it using the change or remove programs and the add new programs.........the add/remove windows componets doesnt work though....i just get the error setup was unable to load the master information file. and then the application could not be initialized...so i dont know..im gonna keep playing with it....
semorefred
update....im currenlty trying out this software i got called ashampoo unistaller suite.....just as testing i put the program on the c: and then accessed the program from the cd rom disc.........the program is really god to use it lets you uninstall any program on any drive that has been installed and walks you through the registry entries as well to remove them..it has a lot of other stuff to use...im currently working on a plugin for it and try to use the software from cd....so ill keep you updated...but its not what i had in mind...i would have rather used the add/remove from the control panel......but if this works then maybe we can keep working on it find another solution to the control panel.......
semorefred
well i did the plugin test and it worked out fine....i sucessfully removed installed programs form the hard disk and remove registry files with this program...i dont know if anyone wants the information about this plugin.....cause some people may test it and say its not good or anything but you never know....so if you would like the plugin info just ask you can download the program here

if someone else could try it out and see if it might be good for them then ok....thats ok.....if not then ohhh well....i found use for it>>>>>
