When i start network services with pe network configurator, its looks like it runs correctly but when it try to install network adapters it seems to crash. i start task manager and the cpu idle is at 100 % and it's on "not response" status. Sometimes if i wait a long time, a error mesage appears "no ethernet adaptor where found". I try with and Realtek RTL8139 and various Intel Ethernet adaptors with the drivers of plugins.

I make winpe with win2k3 standar server (spanish), the version of factory.exe and NETCFG.EXE were both 5.2.3790.0.

Any idea ? i'm desesperate that network doesnt starts sad.gif

Thanks.

have you tried building it with just the english version or maybe you need to add the correct nic drivers.

Are you using a patched winlogon.exe?

What type of system are you testing this with?
builderbob
Tolo,

Have you tried adding this plugin:

http://pages.infinit.net/goriol/files/nic.cab

it provides extra drivers for different nic's. It might be worth a try.

Ed

An idiot question... How i use this plugin ? tongue.gif
tolo
Oops, i know how to use, the problem were that is autoenable to "yes" on pe builder and i was looking for a plugin enable to "no". tongue.gif

My problem with penetcfg continues... i added the extra pack of nic drivers and it crashes too... mad.gif

Any idea?

Tolo,

Sorry that didn't help. The only thing i can think of is this:

There is a plugin on my pebuilder called 'Network Support [Auto-start]', set this to 'No' but 'Yes' to the plugin called 'Network Support'.

Burn this and when you boot it, wait for everything to finish 'installing' THEN start peconfig.

If this doesn't help, i'm sorry!

Regards
Ed

This is a non-PE solution, but these types of problems happen at work where you look at a problem until you're going insane.
Then you have to stand back and go through basic troubleshooting:

1) Try it on a different machine, totally.
Does the problem follow the hardware?

2) Try it with different logon credentials. (This doesn't apply in your case.)
Does the problem follow the user account?

3) If the problem doesn't happen on the other computer, then change the involved hardware on the problem PC, if you can. (In your case, swap your network card with another.)

4) If the problem persists, was the card a different make and model? If not, it probably used the same driver, which could be corrupt. Make sure it's a different make/model.

5) (For your situation,) unpack a fresh instance of PEBuilder.
Turn on only
autorun
bootfix
network
your specific NIC driver
NU2MENU

Does it still crash?

6) If it does, search the entire PEBuilder folder for INF files.
Remember that any INF file will get scanned by PEBuilder and will get implemented unless there's a section like this "Enable=0".
An INF file with no "Enable=0" will be implemented as if it had an "Enable=1".
So if you have conflicting or incompatible INF's without Enable=0, these files you thought were rat-holed in undefined subfolders are getting installed!

I check all the points that you tell to me, and it continues crashing... Should be a problem of win2k3 standard server spanish language with i made winpe ?
winnerpc
The penetcfg.exe file not work correctly for me in Windows XP Sp1 spanish or Windows 2003 Server spanish.

Use the english version of this OS.

Sorry for my english tongue.gif
Obscure Information
How do you add the drivers.cab file to a PEBuilder setup?

Thanks.. just started using this utility yesterday. Information seems a bit limited if you don't already have experience.
tolo
Well, i'm going to try to build winpe with english version os S.O. sad.gif
tolo
I build winpe with english version of winxp + sp1 and penetcfg runs correctly.It seems to be that all my problems were caused by spanish version of S.O. (windows xp sp1 and win2k3 standard server)

Thanks winnerpc. cool.gif

@tolo

Suerte.

I had the same problem with penetcfg.exe crashing and it was a compatability issue with the versions of ntkrnlmp.exe and winlogon.exe - mine are both version 5.1.2600.1106 and it now works OK.

@winnerpc

@Pedro

Very, very and muchísimas más very thks...
Penetcfg.exe work perfectly in Win XP SP1 spanish version. biggrin.gif

@tolo
Usa Winlogon.exe patched (v5.1.2600.1106 english) y ntkrnlmp.exe (v5.1.2600.1106 english)

;ntoskrnl.exe=2,ntkrnlmp.exe
