Full Version: Request :- Gif Logo At Startup

Hi,

I was just wondering if it would be possible to include a gif animated logo instead of the bmp at the startup of CD SHELL.

Also whether it would be possible to include a animated gif picture on the menu while the list of softwares is being displayed EG :-

1. 98 startup |------|
2. NTFS Startup | |
3. WinMe startup |____|

The gif logo is in place o fthe box shown above..

If this could be made possible it would give some real life to the bootable menu.

INFO :- you can get some apps like lxpic, sea etc that show gif animations in dos..

Bye.

This is not possible directly.

But it can be done using Bootable CD Wizard http://bootcd.norad.ru .

If you really need to use BootScriptor, you can use BCDW to display the picture then load a BootScriptor/CDShell script from it (it is possible, see its documentation).

Thanks...

I'll surely try this method and let you know the problems i face...

Thanks again.

GIF support is not planned for CD Shell because it requires that I pay royalties on each copy of CD Shell downloaded. Plus it would be pretty hard to do it all in assembler. Sooner or later I should port the project to C, but in all honesty that will probably never happen.

reanimatolog,

Nice work with the Boot Scriptor/CD Shell modules. As far as I know, you're the first person besides myself who has made an extension module. Would you mind if I posted a link to your website from www.cdshell.org, and maybe a news item on my site and mail list?
jassi
Thankyou very very very MUCH Reanimatolog...... laugh.gif laugh.gif

Hey, reanimatolog:

Am I missing something, or is there no English translation of your site available?... If there's a button that gives a translation, I'm somehow missing it, despite trying to see it in Opera/Mozilla AND IE. Do you have an URL you could give that would lead me to a page translated into English?...

the GIF patent is almost expired. End of June 2003 I think. How about PNG support?

Nice work smile.gif
If you need any assistance in the website, just send me.

@Jassi

Please send me the URL so I can see if it's legal or not to publish it.
I'll also check Bart, coz maybe the software didn't have his permission to work with his source code.

ATTENTION :- Calling all the great minds(platinum members) and souls (admins) of this forum..

Some days ago i gave you'll link to DISKEMU 2 dry.gif .. Ofcource i dissappered after that for quite long due to some stupid reason but now that i'm back i see no mentioning about the features or qualities or anything about DISKEMU 2 on the forum !!!!!

The chinese version is really good at features..

I pleade you'll to test it out (if possible) and let us know exactly whats different in it and how could we use some of its features to improve cdshell.. ( i guess reanimatolog would be able to help in this )

Please let me know whats the outcome..

If some one's not got the link please let me know and i'll PM it to you..

Also let me know whether it's OK to post the link on the forum or give it to other forum members... unsure.gif

HMMM.... that should be it..

Please look into it..

Bye,
Jassi
jassi
Well just posting to bring it back to the TOP !!

Anyways what abt DISKEMU 2 !!

Any takers for the project ???

Well i've been on Reanimatolog's site recently and have seen that he's really done it this time !!

Due to his great gif displaying features The menu creation capabilities have reached great new Heights !!!

Well just to improve it a bit..

@ reanimatolog ..

Would it be possibel to add a bar indicator that moves with the time ... like to indicate that the 30 sec's are about to be up.

And in your early versions of BCDW you had introduced an animated gif "Bootable cd Wizard" logo at startup !!.
Would it be possible to implement the same in cdshell.. IE keep the backgroung animated while displaying other objects onto it !!

It would be like rotating the CDSHELL logo at the top with the menu down below !!

Please think abt it and let me know..

Bye,
Jassi

if you search the forum you will find that the topic regarding EasyBoot speaks about diskemu. wink.gif
the ezbsystem company received the necessary ageement from the developer of diskemu1, That you can find on bart site, and developed a new ver able to load animated gif, full disk image support, and other things.
I received from ezbsystem the diskemu package in order to debug some feature, But I don't know if the ezbsystem decided to redistribue it.
Now is out easyboot 4, that has got ps2 mouse support and password protected item!
jassi
Well hi...

does that mean that the guys who want animated gif at the startup would have to actually PURCHASE easyboot 4 ???

Like is'nt it possible to integrate that function of showing animated gif's at startup by reanimatolog ???

Please help me on this.. And also let me know if Easyboot is the last viable alternative..

Bye,
Jassi
