Full Version: Getting Rid Of Bold Text

I just want to know if anyone knows how to get rid of the fact that all the text in WinPE is bold... ie. menus, message boxes, etc.

I know its just a little cosmetic thing, but ERD Commander 2002 seems to be able to show everything in normal font, but that may be because it uses the windows registry. Does anyone know what you have to change in the WinPE registry to get rid of the "boldness"?

The reason I want to know is that I'm programming my own Windows PE shell (in Delphi) but it looks really ugly because everything is so "in your face". It looks fine in normal windows though.

Thanks for your help in advance....

Add the font "Tahoma" to WinPE, it will be used instead of Tahoma Bold and everything looks pretty. smile.gif
Just add the entry "Tahoma (TrueType)" as REG_SZ "TAHOMA.TTF" at HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts"

Always asked myself the same but never asked why or changed it before.

Woohoo!!! Everything looks so pretty biggrin.gif!!!

I didn't realise it was so simple! I was looking that the software registry hive in the colour schemes and appearance keys... I didn't even think to see if the font was there and registered! smile.gif silly me!

Thanks Sam

Yes, I liked this too. Very easy to add the registry setting to winpesft.inf.
